起源は日本の着物

１９世紀から２０世紀にかけて、ハワイへ渡った日本移民はシュガープラント・農業に従事していました。彼らは作業服としてパラカシャツ（ヨーロッパの船員たちが着ていたとされる開襟シャツ）を日本の木綿絣に似ていたところから愛用していました。そして、持ってきた着物や浴衣が古くなるとその端切れで子供のパラカ風シャツを仕立てて着せていました。着物独特の色や柄が現地の人々に評判になり、次第に新しい着物や浴衣生地で仕立てた開襟シャツが人気を博し、現在のアロハシャツの起源となったのです。

美しく上質な仕立て

残念ながら今の日本では着物を着る方が一部の方だけになり、着物を簡単に処分する方もたくさん増えています。私たちは日本の大切な文化を残していきたいと考え昔に立ち戻り、ヴィンテージ着物でアロハシャツを仕立て、どなたでも手に取って気軽に着ていただきたいと考えました。着物を一つ一つ糸を解いて、丁寧に洗い、今の時代に合うよう図柄合わせを綿密に考え、裏に縫い目が出ないように折り伏せ縫いで縫製いたしました。絹で作られたアロハシャツはとても風合いがよく柔らかで、身体に馴染む大変着心地の良いアロハシャツに仕上がりました。また着物の柄ゆきは品格があり、エレガントな雰囲気を醸し出します。

世界に一つの着物アロハ

着物アロハは、一つひとつ手作業で丁寧にお仕立てするため一度に沢山作ることはできません。今の時代とは逆行しているかもしれませんが、私たちは時間は心だと思っています。日本の大切な文化をしっかりと丁寧に届けたい。その気持ちでお作りしています。私たちはこの取り組みを、着物と歌舞伎者をかけてKABUKIMONOプロジェクトと名付けました。袖を通していただくと、シルクの滑らかな着心地の素晴らしさを間違いなく実感していただけると思います。
